Report a Wrong Result

Did the lookup get your unit's age wrong, or not recognize the serial at all? Tell us and we'll fix the decoder.

The most useful report has three things: the serial number, the brand, and the real date if you know it (many labels print a manufacture date, and installers often write the install date on the unit). A photo of the label is even better: mention it below and we'll reply so you can send it.

What happens next

We check the serial against the manufacturer's documentation and other known serials from the same era. If the rule is wrong or a format is missing, we update the decoder, add your serial (with no personal details) to our test set so the mistake can't come back, and note the change on the methodology page.

A serial number identifies a piece of equipment, not a person, but we still keep reports only as long as we need them. See the Privacy Policy.
